Business Case Competition 2017

Friedrich Naumann Foundation

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) is the liberal German political foundation that promotes participative democracy, human rights, and the free market in Germany and around the world.

A huge part of its efforts is creating spaces where individuals can become their best selves and where organizations can better engage in political processes. FNF supports programs to discover new ideas on how innovation can be integrated into governance, including business. Therefore it runs a Global Hub for Innovation to encourage game changing initiatives to expand freedoms in society.

FNF in the Southeast and East Asia region inspires innovation through its projects that involve the youth and startups. In July 2017, it launched its Drivers of Innovation podcast series as a platform to promote social innovation worldwide.

FNF’s partnership with Agorize Asia to hold the Business Case Challenge recognizes the increasingly important role that businesses play in the realization of human rights of individuals. It aims to discover disruptive business ideas that incorporate the promotion of human rights in business operations and culture.

We strive to be environmentally and socially responsible. We are dedicated to fighting the illegal cigarette trade. And we proudly support the communities where we source tobacco and where our employees live and work.

For more than a decade, Philip Morris International Inc. (PMI) has dedicated significant resources to the development and scientific assessment of non-combustible alternatives to cigarettes. PMI refers to these products as Reduced-Risk Products (RRPs) with the potential to reduce individual risk and population harm in comparison with smoking cigarettes. Through multidisciplinary capabilities in product development, state-of-the-art facilities, and industry-leading scientific substantiation, PMI aims to provide an RRP portfolio that meets a broad spectrum of adult smoker preferences and rigorous regulatory requirements.

PMI’s goal is to lead a full-scale effort to ensure that RRPs ultimately replace cigarettes to the benefit of adult smokers, the society and delivers value to its shareholders.
