Drinking alcoholic beverages can be an enjoyable experience when we are celebrating or just spending a night out with friends. However, we also know that excessive or inappropriate consumption can cause harm to individuals and society. Responsibility and moderation when drinking alcoholic beverages are key to create a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. 

Pernod Ricard is calling out to bright-minded innovators across the world to come up with innovative, tech-driven solutions to raise awareness of responsible drinking and to fight alcohol misuse.

This challenge is a great and unique opportunity for Startups, SMEs, Entrepreneurs and Academic Institutions to actively take part in changing our drinking culture, as well as to help reduce over-consumption of alcohol and minimize alcohol-related accidents.

Pernod Ricard owns 16 of the Top 100 Spirits Brands and holds one of the most prestigious and comprehensive brand portfolios in the industry, including: Absolut Vodka, Ballantine’s, Chivas Regal, Jameson Irish whiskey, Martell cognac, Havana Club rum, Beefeater gin, Mumm and Perrier-Jouët champagnes. Previously, Pernod Ricard introduced the first global messenger chatbot dedicated to the responsible consumption of alcohol as well as a Wise Drinking app.

The most promising projects will compete for up to 50,000€ in funding and might see their solutions implemented by Pernod Ricard. Finalists will also be invited to pitch their solutions to Pernod Ricard’s leaders in Paris in 2020!

THE THEMES TO TACKLE! 

 

To innovate for a safe drinking experience and fight alcohol misuse, Pernod Ricard has listed below 6 categories to tackle. If you have multiple solutions, don’t hesitate to submit different projects in several of these categories or submit a project which addresses the challenge across various categories.

The possibilities to create awareness of responsible drinking using technology are endless, so if you have any bold solution which does not fall into one of these categories, you can choose to go for the Wild Card! 


 
CATEGORY 1: TRACK CONSUMPTION 
 
Know when to stop! How could we better track one’s alcohol intake in a reliable and cost-effective way while delivering useful practical health and safety suggestions, all at the same time?

 
CATEGORY 2: CONSUMER INFORMATION
 
Know what you drink. Come up with an innovative solution to help consumers gain a clear understanding of the key facts and information about their drinks. Guide them anytime, anywhere through digital and offline channels on how to consume their drinks responsibly.

 
CATEGORY 3: DRINK DRIVING
 
No more drink driving. Use the most suitable technology to prevent drink driving. Could we help drivers be more aware of their blood alcohol level, persuade them to avoid drink and driving, propose them useful alternative solutions? Alternatively, could we imagine reliable, cost-effective and connected breathalyzers that deliver accurate and real-time data?

 
CATEGORY 4: UNDERAGE DRINKING
 
Prevent underage drinking. What innovative solutions could we use to prevent the underage from drinking? How can we better communicate with children, parents, and communities about the risks of underage drinking? How can we encourage changing their behavior? How can we make sure minors don’t have access to alcoholic beverages?
 
CATEGORY 5: BINGE DRINKING
 
Overdoing it is not cool. Make moderation fashionable. How could we prevent binge drinking and make responsible, moderate and convivial consumption the social norm? Or do you have specific solutions to expand Pernod Ricard’s Responsible Party initiative and make it a global success?

 
CATEGORY 6: WILD CARD
 
Thinking outside the box.Do you have an unconventional and creative solution to prevent irresponsible drinking and promote responsible convivial drinking behavior? We would love to hear it!
