Keeping Wildlife in the Wild attracted 95 participants, split into 38 teams and received 23 proposals. The Final Round successfully concluded on Saturday, November 9th, when each of the eight finalist teams had 5 minutes to pitch their innovative ideas on wildlife awareness and trafficking as well as marine life preservation. Field experts from WWF, ADM Capital Foundation, GlobeScan, The University of Hong Kong and the U.S. Consulate were part of the jury panel. They had 3 minutes to ask questions around the proposal during the Q&A session

  

Congratulations to all the finalists for their impressive proposals that led to internship opportunities and judges’ interest in assisting with their idea implementation. These are the top three winners:

HEALER

 
 

RainbowJessicaCrystal, and Candice created Healer, a financially practical and sustainable system designed to promote sustainable Traditional Chinese Medicine consumption through acknowledgment, awareness, action, and monitoring. As the first-place winner, they were awarded iPhone 11 for each team member and HKD 10K worth of Overseas Traning/Exchange Program, internship, and One Planet Youth Leadership opportunities sponsored by WWF.

ONE OCEAN

 
 

ChingNamChuiYi, and ManFai, the One Ocean team, created an AI-powered mobile application that enables divers and ocean enthusiasts to use photographic identification (photo-ID) as a powerful non-invasive field technique for studying sharks and rays in their natural environment. As the second-place winner, they were awarded iPad Air for each team member and HKD 7K worth of Overseas Traning/Exchange Program, internship, and One Planet Youth Leadership opportunities sponsored by WWF.

EVMT

 
 

AlanKingsonJason, and On man, the EVMT (Environmental Management and Technology) team, created an app to reduce the consumption of shark fin in weddings by showcasing the health issues related to it, providing venue alternatives that do not offer this option and therefore changing behavior and mindset of consumers. As the third-place winner, they were awarded Apple Watch Series 5 for each team member and HKD 5K worth of Overseas Traning/Exchange Program, internship, and One Planet Youth Leadership opportunities sponsored by WWF.
