Following the success of the first edition in 2019, we at JX Nippon Mining & Metals, are delighted to launch the second edition of the Innovation Challenge for the Next Generation.

 

To ensure the future and well-being of our younger generations, it has become paramount for us to change our ways. Therefore, we at JX Nippon Mining & Metals Group, the leading corporate group in the non-ferrous metals and ceramics industry, are looking for game-changing Startups and ideas to make a difference together!


So, if you are a driven Startup or researcher with big ideas and want to have a part in shaping the future, participate in JX Nippon Mining & Metals Group’s Innovation Challenge for the Next Generation 2021-2022 by participating in one of the themes below:

Timeline

  • Application Phase

    Oct 4 - Dec 13

    Register on the platform and submit your application form and the documents!

  • Online voting

    Dec 23 - Jan 12

    The Top 20 teams will be shortlisted by a jury panel from JX Nippon Mining & Metals.

  • Interview Phase

    Feb 8 - Feb 10

    The top 20 teams will be interviewed online by a panel of judges from JXNMM.

  • Mentoring

    Feb 16 - Mar 18

    The Top 8 teams will be paired with JXNMM mentors to prepare for the Final Event.

  • Final Event

    End of March 2022

    Top 8 finalists to pitch to the final jury. The results will be announced on the day.

Prizes

By joining this challenge, all finalists will have the opportunity to be introduced to JX Nippon Mining & Metals Group Companies and JXNMM executive.

Grand Winners stand the chance of gaining the great prizes and opportunities below:
 

  • GRAND PRIZE: USD 25,000 in cash for a Proof of Concept
  • RUNNER UP: USD 15,000 in cash for a POC
  • SECOND RUNNER UP: USD 10,000 in cash for a POC
 
Additional funding will be considered as needed to complete the project.

Possibility of investment in the business and connection to the Corporate Venture Capital of JX Nippon Mining & Metals

JX Nippon Mining & Metals will be supporting Startups to develop their business in Japan, by providing the following opportunities:
 
  • Business collaboration with JXNMM and group companies
  • Local business support in Japan
  • Inviting the winning Startups to JX Nippon Mining & Metals' exhibitions and other opportunities

Innovation Challenge for the Next Generation 2019 Edition

 
The first edition of the Innovation Challenge for the Next Generation was held in 2019, in which many brilliant Startups from Europe and other parts of the world competed.
 
This is a quick reminder of 2019 edition winners. With the aim of applying the technology to next-generation interconnection and battery materials, JX Nippon Mining & Metals are now working on collaborating with the winners/finalists.
 
 

Final Event.

Depending on the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic in the world, Startups will be invited to a Sponsored trip to Japan to pitch their projects during the Grand Final Event.
