AIANext100: The Guardians Challenge

Searching for the next team of student superheroes to imagine our future

This challenge is only open to students residing in Hong Kong & Macau

PHASE 1: Application 


Yes, you can sign up to the Challenge as an individual and then use the ‘Teams’ tab to find relevant team members.

No, you can join a team whose members are from different majors or universities. In fact, we would encourage you to create an interdisciplinary team with complimentary skills sets.

Yes, you can apply as long as two team members will be able to represent your team at the Final Event: Hackathon and Presentation if your team reaches this stage.

The online webinar will be held at 2pm on Monday 1 April 2019 (to be confirmed), make sure you have signed up to the Challenge and clicked ‘Participate’ as we will be sending you the webinar link via the platform. More information is coming soon!

The AIA jury panel will choose the top 15-20 teams, who can save the megacities of the future based on the following criteria: Originality, Desirability, Feasibility, and Viability.

The Top 15-20 Teams will be announced on Wednesday 24 April 2019.

STEP 2: Mentoring & Workshop


If your team reaches the Mentoring Phase, you will have the opportunity to be mentored by AIA senior executives and other experts from the insurance industry online via the platform and at the AIA tutorial.

The AIA tutorial will be held at 7pm on Friday 26 April 2019 (to be confirmed) - please save the date! More information will be released to the selected teams closer to the date of the tutorial.

The AIA tutorial will include talks introducing AIA data that will be made available to selected participants (process, analytics, tools and platform), insights into the insurance business at AIA and our customers, a speed mentoring session with AIA senior executives, sessions on storytelling, presentation skills, and more.

You are welcome to use any publicly available data and use it to develop your proposal. AIA will release data to the top 15-20 selected teams that reach Mentoring Phase.

THE GRAND FINALE


The Grand Finale will take place from Saturday 8 June to Sunday 9 June 2019 in Hong Kong (location: to be confirmed).

The Grand Finale will involve further feedback from AIA senior executives on your proposal, more insights into the data etc. with the hackathon ending with a final presentation in front of the AIA jury panel and prizegiving. A more detailed agenda of the Grand Finale will be released closer to the date.

It is highly recommended that teams to submit a working prototype using AIA’s data but it is not an obligatory requirement for the Hackathon deliverables.

The AIA jury panel will choose its top 15 to 20 teams, who can save the megacities of the future based on the criteria: Originality, Desirability, Feasibility, Viability, and Presentation Quality.

The 1st prize awarded to the winning team will be the opportunity to present your idea to AIA senior executives at the AIA Regional Conference in Hong Kong on Thursday 20 June 2019. In addition, the 1st placed team will win a travel voucher valued at $40,000 HKD to one of AIA's operating markets (China, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand).
