To revolutionise football using your science skills: analyse a data set based on French football championship matches and prove that science can help improve sports performance.

For the first time, one of the world's greatest sports teams (Paris Saint-Germain) and one of the world's most prestigious universities (École Polytechnique) are joining forces to give you the opportunity to enter a competition with unique scientific impact in the field of sports. Take on this ground-breaking challenge and get yourself noticed by professional analysts!

As the challenge only aims to discover talent, you retain all intellectual property rights for your work.

Prizes

The overall winner will receive funding for research into optimising sports performance to be carried out in Paris with Paris Saint-Germain and École Polytechnique (PhD- or post-doctoral-level) totalling 100,000 euros.

Can’t do this kind of PhD or post-doc work after the challenge? You can still enter the competition and try to win one of the other prizes!

The five finalists will have the chance to present their results to analysts at Europe’s best football clubs during the Grand Final on 21 May 2019 at Parc des Princes as part of the Striving for Excellence conference.

The finalists will be given extensive media coverage (press, TV and social media). They will also be given signed football shirts by the Paris Saint-Germain staff. Travel and accommodation expenses will be fully reimbursed.

The 11 best analysts will win personalised football shirts signed by the players!

The 50 best analysts will be highlighted in rankings published on the Paris Saint-Germain social media pages.
