IMPROVING MARINE IN-SERVICE SUPPORT
IMPROVING MARINE IN-SERVICE SUPPORT
We are looking for products and solutions to revolutionize the supply-chain, installation, maintenance, refit and life-extension of maritime systems and services for vessels.
Type of solutions we are looking for :
Data- and Model-based AI solutions for automation and decision aid in support of cost-effective marine in-service activities; including: supply-chain, maintenance operation, repair and overhaul, testing and evaluation, life-extension, logistics and planning support related to vessels technologies and sub-systems. As well as extension of their lifetime and in-service support productivity improvements based on data analytics; predictive maintenance; etc
CHALLENGE 2
MASS CUSTOMISATION IN MOBILITY
MASS CUSTOMISATION IN MOBILITY
The passenger experience in any travel hub (metro network, airport, seaport, etc.) is affected by the familiarity of services, quality of people flow and easy-to-use services. Thales wants to challenge you to think, develop and hack mobility services, and to create future mobility experiences.
Type of solutions we are looking for :
Data- and Model-based AI solutions in support of hyper-personalised passenger experiences in urban rail transit which go beyond what we have seen and experienced in our daily commute today such as but not limited to virtual familiarisation, navigation aid, mobility on-demand, just-in-time retail, in-terminal mobility & security, multi-modal mobility options, etc
CHALLENGE 3
MAKING CITIES RESILIENT
MAKING CITIES RESILIENT
Making cities resilient by improving threat detection, providing more efficient root-cause analysis, or more accurate predictive models to mitigate negative impacts of crime and other forms of social disorder or natural disaster, but also empower communities to respond effectively to emergencies and crises.
Type of solutions we are looking for :
Threat intelligence (incl. opensource intelligence) using AI technology for context discovery. Tools for multidisciplinary collaborative or distributed threat detection, automation of vulnerability management and scoring, behavior analysis and human intent detection, etc. Make these detection algorithms immune to unethical or biased behavior.
CHALLENGE 4
IMPACTS OF UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES IN URBAN AIRSPACE
IMPACTS OF UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES IN URBAN AIRSPACE
One of the most important Unmanned Aerial Mobility (UAM) certification concerns is to ensure the vehicles are safe to fly, from collision, and to land; especially in emergency situations in crowded urban areas. An example of an operational challenge is ensuring that vehicles, piloted or not, are integrated into an air traffic system in which parts of that system must be fully automated to handle the high frequency and density of projected operations.
Type of solutions we are looking for :
Demonstrate an independent, self-directed, and scalable system using autonomous technologies to manage and monitor the unmanned vehicles and their flights with measures such as critical mission failures, airspace management information exchange, or sense and avoid: situational awareness, path planning and dynamic path re-planning, collision avoidance, etc.
CHALLENGE 5
IMPROVING ONBOARD PASSENGER
IMPROVING ONBOARD PASSENGER
Streamlining the work of flight attendants in commercial jets, measuring the efficiency of given recurrent activities, looking at ways to optimize their workflow throughout the flight journey so that airlines can have the tools to improve passenger services while maintaining adequate cabin safety.
Type of solutions we are looking for :
Cabin sensor ecosystem (static and mobile, for localisation, proximity, weight, image…) and associated sensor-fusion intelligence to drive cabin flow management and optimization. On-board task scheduling and off-board task optimization based on AI/ML to understand service gaps and bottlenecks. Cabin crew notification engine to optimize distance to assigned task. Cabin crew intelligent tracker to gather model data and detect inconsistent or suboptimal workflow. Dashboards for efficient cabin workflow monitoring and crew training.
CHALLENGE 6
IMPROVE HUMAN MACHINE INTERACTION
IMPROVE HUMAN MACHINE INTERACTION
The human operator may be facing a whole diversity of situations as regards tasks, workload or operation conditions. Yet he needs to keep full control of the system whatever the mission needs. This is why human-machine interaction is a main concern, as the human operator have to understand, master, control and use the system.
Type of solutions we are looking for :
A genuine User Interface making it possible to minimize operator’s workload and maximize operator’s capacity to fulfill his mission. In support of transparent and responsible AI, ML models are to be explainable so to build user’s confidence and acceptability in decision aid, if any. That is as reliable or more than a human based decision aid.
CHALLENGE 7
AUTONOMOUS FLIGHT DYNAMICS FOR ELECTRICAL SATELLITE AND MEGA-CONSTELLATIONS
AUTONOMOUS FLIGHT DYNAMICS FOR ELECTRICAL SATELLITE AND MEGA-CONSTELLATIONS
Flight Dynamics main tasks are about Orbit Determination, Orbit Control and Modification. Flight Dynamics activities are therefore real time and require important Human intervention during the satellite lifetime: launch, early operations ( LEOP), on-orbit station keeping (OOC) and end of life (deorbiting) phases. Autonomy becomes mandatory in these critical phases.
Type of solutions we are looking for :
A trust AI-based solution, robust, explainable and certifiable, at least for insurances purpose, so as to be able to identify root causes of critical events as collisions and to trace any AI decision-making. For example, if AI decides to not create a boost for collision avoidance, history of this decision needs to be recovered and to be understandable by human (as insurances, customers, …).
