TITLE

Provost's Chair Professor of Architecture and Built Environment, National University of Singapore (NUS)

BIOGRAPHY

Professor Lam is architect, educator and researcher who specializes in computational design support systems for total building performance analysis and building diagnostics. He has completed many major funded research projects in Singapore and the USA, and findings are widely published. He is a member of the Editorial Boards of Building Simulation: An International Journal (Springer and Tsinghua University Press), and Buildings (MDPI AG, Switzerland); and Management Board member of the Institute of Real Estate and Urban Studies, National University of Singapore.

He is a member of the Singapore Future Economy Council Urban Systems Cluster Sub Committee and an Advisory Panel member of the Centre for Liveable Cities, Ministry of National Development, Singapore. He is also as an Advisory Board member of Delos, USA, which established the world's first building standard focused exclusively on human health and wellness; Co-Chair of the International Well Building Institute (IWBI) Task Force on COVID-19 and other Respiratory Infections; Co-Chair of the IWBI WELL Cities Advisory; and member of the World Economic Forum Global Future Council on Clean Electrification.

He is a building performance consultant for several major award-winning projects and certified green buildings in Singapore, China and USA. He was awarded the 2013 Alexander Schwarzkopf Prize from the US National Science Foundation “for exemplary research contribution to technology innovation and positive impact on technology, industry and the society as a whole”. He also received the IBM Faculty Award in 2010. He was conferred the inaugural iBuildSG LEAD Distinguished Fellow by the Building and Construction Authority, Singapore in 2020.

TITLE

Head, Terrestrial Species and Conservation Planning, Mandai Nature

BIOGRAPHY

Roopali leads the Terrestrial Species and Conservation Planning programmes at Mandai Nature, a Singapore-based non-profit conservation organisation focusing on advancing nature conservation in Singapore and Asia.

In her role, she manages local and regional research projects supported by Mandai Nature. She collaborates with conservation partners in the region to identify conservation gaps and assist with direct funding to fill these gaps, as well as provide strategic conservation support and guidance. A core part of her work includes integrating in situ and ex situ efforts through the One Plan Approach to strengthen conservation action for threatened terrestrial species in Southeast Asia.

Prior to joining Mandai Nature, Roopali has worked in the field of wildlife conservation in India for over 10 years. She started her career working on primate conservation and has experience in diverse aspects of forest and wildlife conservation as well as urban environmental protection.

She is currently also the co-convenor of the IUCN SSC Conservation Planning Specialist Group (CPSG) Southeast Asia Resource Centre which is hosted by Mandai Nature.

She is a wildlife biologist by training with a Masters’ degree from the Wildlife Institute of India.

BIOGRAPHY

Royston is the co-founder and CEO of Amplefresh Pte. Ltd., specialising in vertical farming on facades as vertical greenery. Royston holds patents to the vertical conveying systems of crops on exteriors of buildings and the method thereof. As Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering graduate from Nanyang Technological University, he formulates the nutrients solution optimised for crop cultivation and accelerated growth. As a leader championing a sustainable future, he sits as a member of the SGTech Sustainability Committee, a core member of the Foodtech Workgroup, and a Singapore National Library board volunteer for early education in food nutrition and urban farming.

Managing Director, Huawei Digital Power Singapore

BIOGRAPHY

Terry Gao is the Managing Director of Digital Power Business Group in Huawei, and he believes that renewable energy will drive and support the growth of the future economy. Huawei Digital Power is dedicated to integrating digital and power electronics technologies to develop clean power and enable energy digitalization.

Terry is a sales leader with 18 years of experience in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry. Prior to Huawei, he worked in companies including SingTel, NCS, and Esplanade. Terry holds a Master degree in Knowledge Management from Nanyang Technological University.

Senior Lecturer, & Associate Director, Graduate Programmes in Architectural Conservation, Department of Architecture, National University of Singapore (NUS)

BIOGRAPHY

Nikhil Joshi is an academic, architect and activist. He is currently a Senior Lecturer and Associate Director of Graduate Programmes in Architectural Conservation in the Department of Architecture at National University of Singapore (NUS). Having received his PhD in Architecture from NUS; MA in Conservation Studies (Historic buildings) from the University of York (United Kingdom); and B.Arch. from the University of Pune (India), he has provided consultancy in architectural conservation and community development in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, India, and United Kingdom. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, UK, and recipient of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings Lethaby Scholarship, UK.

Executive Director and Co-Founder of My Community

BIOGRAPHY

Kwek Li Yong is a community organiser and heritage researcher who advocates for greater community involvement in cultural management and urban governance. He is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of My Community, a non-profit heritage organisation which works to capture and preserve community stories, reconnect people to places and social networks and deepen heritage appreciation and expression across the country. He has conceptualised, researched and organised community tours, museums and programmes in Queenstown, Bukit Merah and Tiong Bahru with residents, shopkeepers and community stakeholders. His work has spurred the growth and development of a common-man approach to history and heritage where everyday experiences of Singaporeans are chronicled and celebrated. His latest projects include the ongoing My Community Festival, research projects on design-thinking in community museums and the impact of relocation in communities, as well as co-designing and co-curating the permanent community museum in Queenstown.

Art Director, DarkMeta

BIOGRAPHY

Marc is the art director for DarkMeta, a WEB3.0 start up based in Singapore. He develops 3D production, Metaverse space integration and game development, and is currently art director and WEB visualiser for DJ Wukong, XM studios, Dark Zodiac and 18 courts of Hell.

As a recent distinguished alumus from School of Art, Design and Media, Nanyang Technological University, Marc was featured in the news for selling out the Dark Zodiac non-fungible tokens (NFT) collection for $1.4 million worth in cryptocurrency. The collection was inspired by Chinese zodiac mythology and creatures, echoing how culture coupled with technology has been the cornerstone of influence in Marc’s career path.

BIOGRAPHY

A self-described tech enthusiast, Hong De is a business development manager who is committed to solving customer pain points. He has spent the last 5 years in the tech industry and is currently most passionate about the work he is doing to help companies leverage AR/VR/MR and emerging technologies.

As a business development manager at Hiverlab, he oversees new business, as well as overseas business development and business intelligence. For Hong De, having conversation with clients and being able to solve their pain points is the most rewarding part of the role.

Senior Lecturer of Computer Science, Singapore Management University

BIOGRAPHY

Dr Andrew Koh is a senior lecturer at Singapore Management University, where he teaches "AI and Humanity" and "Digital Technologies and Sustainability". His research focuses on the well-being of migrant workers in Singapore, born out of a heartbeat to serve the marginalized. His work experience through the non-profit, corporate and governmental sectors lend him an integrative yet multi-focal perspective which he aims to empower the next generation with towards a future of change. He obtained his Ph.D in computational imaging in 2008.

General Manager, Ray of Hope

BIOGRAPHY

Tan En is a dedicated advocate for marginalized populations. He has served in a number of influential capacities in the non-profit sector, most notably as a Director of Advocacy at ACRES, a Legislative Assistant for a Member of Parliament.

En was part of the inaugural NCSS 40 under 40 leadership programme that saw promising leaders in the social service sector come together to make change happen. He currently leads the Ray of Hope team as General Manager and has overseen ROH’s growth in the past 4 years from raising $500,000 a year to an annual donation income of over $4million dollars.

BIOGRAPHY

GreenSpace+ is a one-stop green hub for ground-up initiatives; the mission is to establish a Green ecosystem to build community green activities to nurture Innovation and train people on the East Coast and volunteers into change-makers in this one-stop hub.

Spearheaded by Gina Sim, she leverages the power of the community in transforming thinking and action toward sustainability. Her experience includes establishing an exclusive high-net-worth community for Porsche car owners and Nestle Infant Nutrition New mothers community club in China. In Singapore, she volunteers her time with Singapore Ice Skating Association to build a high-performance ice skating community.

BIOGRAPHY

Charles Cheng is the Managing Director of Huawei International Pte Ltd overseeing public affairs and communication of the Singapore office. Under his leadership, Huawei Singapore embarked on its journey of giving back to the local community through the Tech4City initiative, including CSR projects for various groups in the communities, such as seniors, youths and hawkers.

Charles has more than 13 years of working experience with extensive background in the ICT industry, including technical support, project management and sales. He graduated from Beijing Institute of Technology with Information Engineering degree in 2008, and completed a series of professional certifications in Huawei.
