Tech4City Community Events

It takes a village to raise a child, and it takes an entire community to mould good habits and push for change. To build a dynamic and change-making Huawei Tech4City Community, we will hold three separate sharing sessions covering the three themes in June, July and August.

In each session, industry experts, public sector partners and Huawei’s internal experts will share their insights to help participants grasp a better understanding of different topics. Participants can also network with the experts, and bond with other like-minded participants to team up creating social good.

Venue

Huawei AI Lab, Changi Business Park

Synopsis

Climate change has become a formidable challenge to our ongoing development as a society. We believe that technology plays a pivotal role in enabling environmental protection. Living in Singapore, a highly developed cosmopolitan city, we are well poised to take the lead regionally in spearheading environmental conservation using digital technology.

How can we leverage technology to reduce carbon emissions, protect or even enhance the biodiversity, natural and built environment of Singapore? How can we live comfortably and sustainably with nature while keeping pace with modernization?

In the first Tech4City Community event, our esteemed speakers from academia, industry, community as well as from Huawei will discuss real challenges that they have come across in daily conversations about sustainability and share insight into successful case studies of how technology supports and enhances the coexistence between mankind and nature.

The event will be held at Huawei’s 5G AI Lab in Singapore which offers a testbed for artificial intelligence development projects. Launched in 2019, it aims to help cultivate a local AI ecosystem, opening it up to local startups, companies, government agencies and education institutes to use. Curated local and overseas case studies and exhibits on digitalisation and sustainability will also be displayed on 23 June.

Synopsis

Culture is the way of life for an entire society, it encompasses arts, beliefs, religion, and even our favourite makan pastime. With greater cultural diversity and growing complexities of globalization, there is a greater need than before for Singapore, a diverse society to preserve and amplify our unique culture with the means of technology.

How can we use technology to integrate uniquely Singapore cultural elements, bringing historical sites and folk traditions to life? How can new technologies like non-fungible tokens (NFTs) create digital art that speaks a story and sell out for over a million dollars? In the post-pandemic era, how can we leverage on technology to promote our vibrant city to the rest of the world and attract more tourists to come?

In the July Tech4City Community event, we invite esteemed speakers from academia, industry, and community to discuss the preservation and enhancement of intangible cultural aspects with technology.
