Jury
A jury of professionals, CBC/Radio-Canada experts and prominent figures from the digital industry will evaluate the prototypes and select a winning team based on the criteria for each prize. The judges will attend the presentations at the CBC/Radio-Canada premises in Montreal and Toronto.

Maxime St-Pierre
Jury chairperson, Executive Director, Digital Services, Radio-Canada
With over 17 years’ experience in the digital industry, Maxime St-Pierre has led major national and international projects in B2C, B2B and e-commerce. In recent years, mobile development has become his main area of expertise. His product and service vision is focused on executing multiscreen strategies, effectively leveraging emerging technologies and enhancing user engagement. He is passionate about building systems that allow digital citizens to interact easily in a connected world within the context of their everyday lives.
Maxime has been at the centre of Radio-Canada’s digital transformation in recent years, evolving the broadcaster’s web and mobile platforms, including ICI Tou.tv, Radio-Canada.ca, ICI Radio-Canada Première, and Rad.
After a 4 year arts education at the University of Toronto, Soo embarked upon a career in digital technology in 1996 with a web consultancy in Toronto called EntreVision. Moving on to nurun in 2000 (Publicis Groupe), rationalEyes, a boutique management consultancy in 2005 and as of late 2006, joined CBC's digital production team, eventually leading that function as Senior Director, Digital Operations.
Soo has enjoyed a 20+ year career focused on digital product development and production management working with brands like IBM, GM, Pearson Education and of course CBC in the development of online products, services and most importantly, high performing teams.
As of April 2017, Soo's portfolio at CBC had expanded to include both radio and television production and related services as Executive Director, Media Operations.
Tech titan Michele Romanow is an engineer and a serial entrepreneur who started five companies before her 33rd birthday. Michele is the co-founder of Clearbanc, which gave entrepreneurs more than $100M in funding this year. She previously co-founded SnapSaves, which was acquired by American tech giant, Groupon in 2014. Michele was also the co-Founder of Buytopia.ca, which acquired ten competitors including Shop.ca and WagJag and was ranked #3 on the Profit Hot 50 list of fastest growing companies. She’s ranked in WXN’s “100 Most Powerful in Canada” and listed as the only Canadian on Forbes magazine’s “Millennial on a Mission” list.
Michele is a prolific angel investor and the winner of Angel Investor of the Year award. She co-founded the Canadian Entrepreneurship Initiative with Richard Branson to encourage entrepreneurship. Michele has created digital solutions for many of the world’s leading brands, including P&G, Netflix, Starbucks, and Cirque du Soleil. She began her career as the Director of Strategy for Sears, where she led apparel growth — a $2.5 billion category at the time.
In the media, Michele’s work has been profiled in Forbes, Canadian Business, The New York Times, The Globe and Mail, and Chatelaine.
During her Civil Engineering undergrad at Queen’s University, Michele founded The Tea Room, the first zero-consumer-waste coffee shop. At Queen’s, she was given the Queen’s Tricolour — the highest honor awarded by the university — and, after completing her Queen’s MBA, she founded Evandale Caviar, a vertically integrated commercial fishery.
Michele is a director for Vail Resorts (NYSE: MTN), Freshii (TSX: FRII), League of Innovators, Queen’s School of Business and Shad International - a transformational program that develops the entrepreneurial potential of exceptional Canadian youth.
Michele is a Calgary native and currently splits her time between Toronto and San Francisco.

As regional director, Brian leads Microsoft’s sales business for Eastern Canada. His organization is responsible for leading the digital transformation for commercial customers and partners to realize greater business value through the use of technology.
Brian has over 25 years in the IT industry in various technical, sales and marketing positions with global companies such as Bell, Nortel, CGI and Microsoft.
Alex Coqueiro
Public Sector Solutions Architect Manager
Amazon Web Services
Alex Coqueiro is a Solutions Architect Manager, for Amazon Web Service Public Sector, and manages a group of technical professionals that design cloud solutions for government, education & non-profit organization customers in Canada, Latin America & Caribbean. He is currently responsible for helping customers develop cloud architecture focusing on mapping Amazon Web Services solution capabilities to business needs.
He also serves as a key connection between the public sector, engineering, security, and compliance teams at AWS, ensuring that public sector customer requirements are front-and-center in service plans and product road maps.
