Privacy Statement

HUAWEI Developer Competition Europe 2022

2022 Huawei Developer Competition (hereinafter, referred to as “2022HDC” or “the Competition”) is organized by Sparkoo Technologies Ireland Co., Limited, a company duly incorporated and exists under the laws of Ireland, with its registered office located at 2nd Floor, Mespil Court, Mespil Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, D04 E516, Ireland (hereinafter referred to as "we", "us" or "our").

We understand the importance of your privacy, and pledge to take all appropriate security measures to protect it in accordance with the industry's well-established safety standards.

1. How do we use your data?

Personal data means any information that enables Huawei to identify you as a natural person.

1.1 Based on the contract with or requests from the data subjects

Your personal data are necessary for us to organize and enable your participation of the Competition as requested by you. Without below data and processing, the Competition is unable to continue:

Registration: To participate the 2022HDC, a Huawei Cloud account is required for you to access the resources, and for us to identify the participants. Your [email address and country] will be needed to create such Huawei Cloud account.

Application and progress notification: After the registration, application materials will be available to you. You need to send us back the filled and signed application materials to our designated email address. Then we will make use of your Huawei Cloud Account, name, email address, mobile number (with country number) in the application materials, to reach out and inform you of the progress of 2022HDC.

Distribution of resources: We will provide your team with free resources of Huawei Cloud services for the purpose of the competition by sending a coupon code to the team leader through email.

Evaluation: Your Proposals and Entries with your identities will be evaluated. If your current position is student, you’ll additionally have the chance to be awarded with Prizes for students.

Award Ceremony: After the evaluation, we will notify you the result and information about the ceremony based on your name, e-mail address, and mobile number.

1.2. Based on legitimate interests

Analysis: Making use of the information provided by you in the Application Form, and the evaluation outcome of your Proposals and Entries, we will conduct post-Competition analysis for further events.

Talent Pool: for all developers joining in this Competition, we’ll send you invitation to join in our future similar events.

You have the right to reject the above processing based on legitimate interests, through the Privacy Portal under Section 4 of this Statement

1.3. Based on your consent

Electronic Direct Marketing/EDM: your name and e-mail address will be processed, based on you consent, we will send you the promotion email about Huawei Cloud and survey.

You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time through the same email, or the privacy portal as described in Section 4 of this statement.

1.4. Based on our legal obligation

Additionally we will process your personal data as necessary to comply with legal obligations, and to establish or defend our legal rights.

We retain your personal data for no longer than that is necessary for the purposes defined in this Statement. In particular:

Unless otherwise stated hereunder, your personal data will be stored in Europe. After the retention period expires, we will erase or anonymize your personal data, unless otherwise required by laws and regulations.

3. How do we share your data? 

3.1. Disclosure of your personal data outside of the [EU/EEA]:

Although we invite Chinese experts to jointly evaluate your Proposal and Entry, but we’ll delete your identifiable data, and only present the Proposal or Entries for evaluation.

We procure supplier located in Singapore to help with the event organizing. Your data used for Application and progress notification, and your Submissions will be collected by them and shared with us. Although such supplier is registered in Singapore, your relevant data will be stored and handled in EU.

Staff from our affiliates may provide help in case of need, during which, they may send you email to remind or guide you of how to proceed.

Analysis

Relevant data of this Competition will be shared within our EU affiliates to conduct respective and overall analysis.

Electronic Direct Marketing/EDM

To design and send you the promotion emails and surveys, your relevent data will be shared to the operation team members in our EU affiliates.

Award Ceremony

We procure event organizer to held the ceremony offline, so your relevant information will be shared to them.

 

3.3. Disclosures related to legal requirements and business transactions

Huawei may share your data in response to a legal process or request from a competent authority based on an applicable law or in connection with legal proceeding or process.
Your data may also be disclosed as part of merger, acquisition, sale of assets (such as service agreements) or transition of service to a Huawei group or other company.

You can enter into the Privacy Portal to exercise your data subject right or follow the steps listed below.

  • The right to receive information about the data processing and a copy of the processed data (right to access, Art. 15 GDPR);
  • The right to demand the rectification of inaccurate data or the completion of incomplete data (right to rectification, Art. 16 GDPR);
  • The right to demand the erasure of personal data and, in case the personal data has been made public, the information towards other controllers about the request of erasure (right to erasure, Art. 17 GDPR);
  • The right to demand the restriction of the data processing (right to restriction of processing, Art. 18 GDPR);
  • The right to receive the personal data concerning the data subject in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and to request the transmittance of these data to another controller (right to data portability, Art. 20 GDPR);
  • The right to object the data processing in order to stop it (right to object, Art. 21 GDPR);
  • If applicable, the right to withdraw a given consent at any time to stop a data processing that is based on your consent. The withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of the processing based on the consent before the withdrawal (right to withdraw consent, Art. 7 GDPR);
  • If you think that we are not processing your personal data in accordance with this Statement or the applicable data protection laws, you are entitled to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, Art 77 GDPR).
